SNOW!

We finally got a little snow Sunday night, before President's Day. Thankfully I already had the day off, so I got to take Hudson out to play. It lasted literally a few hours. However, it was kind of nice to be able to play in it one day and it be gone the next, with no muddy mess. Hudson got excited and screamed 'snow' over and over again. He enjoyed stomping around, riding in the wagon, and throwing it. I am so thankful he got a chance to see snow as a two year old. I am also thankful Adeline got to wear her cute, pink snow suit..even if it was only for one hour. She looked so sweet on her very first snow day :)

January gone and February flying by..

We decided it would be easiest, and most comfortable, to spend New Year's Eve night at home with our 25 and 3 month old children. We went to the Fresh Market and got ribs, some yummy macaroni and cheese, the ingredients to make a taco dip and a bottle of sparkling wine. We ate, watched Hud man run around, sing and dance, snuggled with Adeline, set the camera timer up for a family photo (which made us all laugh) and watched the NYE show/performances. It was a nice, relaxing night.

I went back to work January 3rd, leaving Adeline with Mrs. Connie. I miss both of my kids a lot during the day, but leaving them with Mrs. Connie is as comforting as leaving them with family; so for that I am very grateful. Adeline did not want to nap that first couple of days, therefore going to sleep at 6pm and waking up around 2am. She adjusted very quickly and by the end of that first week was back to napping and sleeping through the night. She also adapted to pumped bottles the first day away from me, which was very comforting. The girl loves to eat and I guess she gets that honest! Hudson was a little hesitant to accept Adeline coming along to 'his' Mrs. Connie's house. He didn't like Mrs. Connie giving Adeline attention at first, but seemed to get over it after a few days. Overall he has done very well with his 'sheeshy'. (Below is our first day back to work/ at Mrs Connie's. I look horrible, but it is early and I am not looking forward to leaving my girl).

January went by so fast, with going back to work as a mother of two. There were a couple of short work weeks in January that helped with the adjustment. We had some very mild January weather which allowed for a beautiful day at the park one afternoon. This was Adeline's first trip and she loved being pushed in the swing and getting fresh air and sunlight. Hudson had a blast running around the playground, singing, sliding and swinging. That was a great day.

Towards the end of January, Hudson began potty training. I was not looking forward to this, mainly because the whole public bathroom germ thing terrifies me. But Hud was so excited about it from the start. We started out on his music playing potty, and he did go once. But as typical of Hud, he likes anything that he sees us do and loved trying out the real potty. The first few times we had to leave him on the potty ten minutes or so before he would pee pee. After a few days, he did it within a minute or two and has even 'poo pooed' several times now. We screamed and sang the first few days, each time he used it. He also got his fair share of m&m's. Now he gets more thrill out of putting some toilet paper in the toilet and flushing than anything. He is doing great and we are so proud of him. I still have not braved the public restroom thing with him..still not looking forward to that part!

January flew and now we are half way through February. We have already celebrated Adeline's first and Hudson's 3rd Valentine's Day. Adeline got her very first bracelet for Valentine's Day. Scott gave her a pearl keepsake bracelet with a silver 'A' charm. It is so adorable on her. I took a Valentine's picture of her in it. Hudson's Valentine gift from us was his second trip to the circus. He really enjoyed it last year and was even more into it this year. He picked out an elephant light up spin toy when we got there and had a blast spinning it the entire time. He would hold it up at people like he was 'getting them'. It was very funny. He was amazed at all the sights, sounds and animals and enjoyed dancing to the intermission music as well. Scott and I enjoyed watching our little two year old's excitement. We also enjoyed the special alone time with our Hud. Scott and I made our own little dinner as our Valentine's Day. We made one of our favorite meals, salmon baked with fresh spinach, mushrooms and sun dried tomato dressing, and seasoned red potatoes. We had Maxi B's cupcakes (yellow with fudge frosting for Hud and carrot cake with cream cheese frosting for us) for dessert. I gave Scott a superman card with his photo that I made on Tiny Prints and his favorite girl scout cookies. He gave me a really nice card and a silver necklace that has a heart with 'H' and 'A' charms representing the kids. We had a really nice Valentine's Day.

This weekend is a long one, I have President's Day off and am looking forward to the extra day with the kiddos. We have had a very mild winter so far, with no white precipitation. There is a chance of snow this afternoon so I am keeping my fingers crossed that little man gets a chance to play in it!!!
