January went by so fast, with going back to work as a mother of two. There were a couple of short work weeks in January that helped with the adjustment. We had some very mild January weather which allowed for a beautiful day at the park one afternoon. This was Adeline's first trip and she loved being pushed in the swing and getting fresh air and sunlight. Hudson had a blast running around the playground, singing, sliding and swinging. That was a great day.
Towards the end of January, Hudson began potty training. I was not looking forward to this, mainly because the whole public bathroom germ thing terrifies me. But Hud was so excited about it from the start. We started out on his music playing potty, and he did go once. But as typical of Hud, he likes anything that he sees us do and loved trying out the real potty. The first few times we had to leave him on the potty ten minutes or so before he would pee pee. After a few days, he did it within a minute or two and has even 'poo pooed' several times now. We screamed and sang the first few days, each time he used it. He also got his fair share of m&m's. Now he gets more thrill out of putting some toilet paper in the toilet and flushing than anything. He is doing great and we are so proud of him. I still have not braved the public restroom thing with him..still not looking forward to that part!
January flew and now we are half way through February. We have already celebrated Adeline's first and Hudson's 3rd Valentine's Day. Adeline got her very first bracelet for Valentine's Day. Scott gave her a pearl keepsake bracelet with a silver 'A' charm. It is so adorable on her. I took a Valentine's picture of her in it. Hudson's Valentine gift from us was his second trip to the circus. He really enjoyed it last year and was even more into it this year. He picked out an elephant light up spin toy when we got there and had a blast spinning it the entire time. He would hold it up at people like he was 'getting them'. It was very funny. He was amazed at all the sights, sounds and animals and enjoyed dancing to the intermission music as well. Scott and I enjoyed watching our little two year old's excitement. We also enjoyed the special alone time with our Hud. Scott and I made our own little dinner as our Valentine's Day. We made one of our favorite meals, salmon baked with fresh spinach, mushrooms and sun dried tomato dressing, and seasoned red potatoes. We had Maxi B's cupcakes (yellow with fudge frosting for Hud and carrot cake with cream cheese frosting for us) for dessert. I gave Scott a superman card with his photo that I made on Tiny Prints and his favorite girl scout cookies. He gave me a really nice card and a silver necklace that has a heart with 'H' and 'A' charms representing the kids. We had a really nice Valentine's Day.
This weekend is a long one, I have President's Day off and am looking forward to the extra day with the kiddos. We have had a very mild winter so far, with no white precipitation. There is a chance of snow this afternoon so I am keeping my fingers crossed that little man gets a chance to play in it!!!
